Kelly Jonassen's Tomato Pie

One pie crust (roll to about 12 inches)
 layer sliced tomatoes,
 onions (I copped mine fine),
 cheese of choice, 
and sprinkle with basil and salt to taste
 (I use very little salt in all my recipes)
 layer again until pie plate is full(I did 3 thick layers) 
fold edges of crust over so it is open top and looks more like a tart,
 place 2-3 pats butter on top and bake approx 1 hr at 400deg or until bubbly and cheese is crispy on top.
