Waffles with Maple-Apple Sauce

For waffles:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2tablespoons sugar

1 large egg, lightly beaten

1 cup milk

1 tsp nutmeg

1 cup shredded extra sharp white cheddar cheese

2 tablespoons butter, melted

For Sauce:
4 apples, peeled, cored, & chopped
1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup apple cider
1 tsp cinnamon

Combine all of the sauce ingredients in a saucepan & cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes, or until apples are softened and sauce is thickened

Whisk together dry ingredients for waffles. In a separate bowl, whisk wet ingredients. Combine both bowls & cheese and stir just to combine. Follow waffle iron instructions to cook waffles until crisp. Top with sauce.
